Norton Free Download

Norton Antivirus software has become one of the most popular antivirus software programs available on the market. If you are interested in Norton Antivirus software then you should try out the download Norton for free in order to get a feel for it.  The Norton free download trial  will perform just as well as the full version but only for a limited amount of time.  That is how they get you hooked with the free trial.

In the past Norton has been know for its sluggish behavior.  Often times Norton Antivirus would take a long time to install or even open once installed.  It would take up a large amount of space and many people complained that it slowed down their computers over all.  Not only that but it was also noticed that it could interfere with other programs performance and make things all around not run properly.  If at any point you wanted to try a different form of Antivirus then Norton would actually block the permissions of that other software.

Many of these things have changed for the best though and can be tested out with the free Norton Download.  If you download the free trial of Norton antivirus then you will notice right from the start that it takes much less time to install and open.  After you install and open the free trial you are going to be required to register the product.  Instead of being forced to open up your browser though this can now all be done right from the program interface which is a nice little feature that has been added.

If you have used Norton Antivirus software in the past then when you try out the new Norton free download you are going to find many of the same features.  The major difference is going to be the interface and how you use those features.  Norton has made some progress and is extremely user friendly.

If you are considering a new Antivirus program or looking to update your old version then try out the Norton free download that is available in order to get a feel for the product.  It really is the only way to get a real feel for it in order to decide if it is something worth spending the 39.99 on.

How to Increase Internet Speed

If the wheel falls off your car you get out and see that it’s missing and know what to do or at least who to call to get going again. When you internet connection slows everything looks the same except for you raising blood pressure!

It’s the question that almost anyone and everyone that used a computer has asked at one time. How to increase internet speed? There are two reasons this is such a burning question. One is because it is just so frustrating when your connection is bogged down and you just want to get something done and move quickly. The second reason is that there are many reasons why an internet connection will slow, so it happens often.

The other difficult part about a slow internet connection is that, like almost everything involving your computer, it is so intangible. If the wheel falls off your car you get out and see that it’s missing and know what to do or at least who to call to get going again. When you internet connection slows everything looks the same except for you raising blood pressure!

So take a deep breath and check out the list below of possible culprits and solutions.

  1. The wire coming into your house. This is good an bad. The good news is that it’s nothing you did. The bad news is that you can’t control the issue. Depending on if you have FIOS, cable connection, or DSL, you could sometimes be sharing your internet connection on a hub for your entire neighborhood. If all the kids on your block are downloading the latest viral video while you are trying to get your work done, it’s going to slow. You can either slowly slog through it, or wait until later when activity slows. At least knowing that is the issue should at least calm you a bit. If you are still frustrated give the internet provider a call and vent a bit!
  2. Time of the day. Again this is one of those things you aren’t going to be able to control. Depending on your time zone the internet tends to be busiest after people get home from work until bed time. This has gotten even more true in recent years now that movie and television streaming has become so popular.
  3. Your wireless router. Ah, now finally here is something you can control. If you are hitting the internet through a wireless connection, then you possibly might have an older router that is slow. Research the speed of your wireless router and speed of your wireless card in your computer/laptop. If your computer can handle more then pony of the cash and get a new wireless router.
  4. Multiple uses in your home. Similar to the issue when you are sharing your internet connection with the neighborhood, no matter what your set up is, you are definitely sharing your internet connection with the people in your home. Especially if you are moving along fine and there is a sudden drop off, check with the people in your house and see if one or more connections are downloading big files. Now ground them, and your internet connection will speed up again 🙂 **If you have a wireless router make sure it is password protected. You could have unwelcome visitors on your internet connection **
  5. Issues on your PC/Laptop. Overtime you collect many many unwanted files on your computer from internet use. Also your computer can become bogged down with files that don’t involve the internet but slow down things in general. To solve this issue you have two options. First you can back up your files, format your entire computer, reinstall your operating system and other software, and then restore your files. Option two is to use some web based cleaning applications that promise to clean your computer of unwanted files and speed things up. These can really work wonders however you also need to be wary of what you use. There are services out there that mask themselves as an application to speed your internet but are really just installing spam. Do your research and find a reputable application that is really going to help.

So the next time your internet screeches to a halt try to stay calm. Take a deep breath and review the list above. Before you know it you’ll know how to increase your internet speed.

Many people are looking for a way to convert WMV files to AVI files.  This process can be complted by following a few instructions.

First you will need to have your WMV file saved and ready to go.

Next you will want to download Windows Movie Maker.  If you are operating with Windows XP or Windows Vista then you are in luck because both of these should have come with Windows Movie Maker.

After you have Windows Movie Make you will want to open your .wmv file with Windows Maker.  You may need to import your file rather than using the simple Open with command.

Once you have the file imported you will want to drag it to the “timeline”  which is a feature within the software that should stand out when you are looking at it.

Then on the left hand side you will want to go to the “Publish to” command.  In there you will want to select Finish Movie along with To this Computer.

Click Next

Now in the Option Other Settings Choose DV-AVI

When you click ok windows will start converting the file.  This could take a few minutes so be patient here.  It all depends on the size of your movie.

Once the process is complete you will now have your file in .AVI format.

Windows XP Product Key

Your Windows XP product key will be required if you need to reinstall your current version of Windows XP on your computer.  Many times this will also be referred to as your cd key because it can typically be found on the cd holder that your Window XP cd came in.  In the key is not located on the disk that your windows XP disk came in then you may also find your Windows XP product key on a sticker within the manual that came with your computer.  In some instance you Windows XP product key could also be located on a sticker that is attached right to your computer.

I assure you that locating your Windows XP product key is likely the most difficult process of the whole re-installation.

If for some reason maybe you discarded all your manuals and are unable to locate your Windows XP product key then there is still hope.  There are programs out there that you can download and run manually that will search your computer and return your product key for you.  You simple have to download install and run one of these programs and it should return a series of letter and numbers in a format that looks like xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx which is your Windows XP product key.

Make sure your write this code down exactly as it appears.  If you do not write down and enter your Windows XP product key exactly as it is displayed then you may not be able to properly re-install Windows Xp back on to your computer.

If for some reason you try all of this and you are still unable to locate your product key then you still have a couple options none of which are very pretty though.  Your first and least expensive option is going to be and try to request a new product key from Microsoft.  You will need to prove that you purchased the software though before they are going to reissue you another product key.  This can be a hassle and can also be time consuming.

Your other option which i know you don’t want to hear is that you can go ahead and purchase another copy of Windows XP.  This may also be a good time to upgrade or try out another operating system also.

activesync windows 7

Microsoft ActiveSync is a software developed by Microsoft in order to synchonize Windows Powered PC’s and Microsoft outlook.  The latest version of ActiveSync has also been released for Mobile powered devices.

If you are looking for ActiveSync for windows 7 you are going to disappointed.  Currently ActiveSync is only available for Windows XP or earlier.  If you are running a later version of Windows then you your synchronization will be managed through the Windows Mobile Device Center

In order to get Windows Mobile Device center on to your new mobile device you simple need to hook it up to your computer and it should automatically install for you.

Once you have installed this software on to your Mobile phone then you will easily be able to sync up all of your photos, music, outlook contact information, and important files.  Since I am sure you are constantly updating your contacts and files it I am going to recommend that you sync your mobile device often.  If you are paranoid about losing information like I am then you will sync your phone every other night just to make sure that you are always covered.

For all of you that stay up to date and are running windows 7 or Vista you will be quite pleased with the new Windows Mobile Device Center compared to the old ActivSync that you were using.  Windows Mobile Device Center has a great wizard to get you started.

The Photo management section will quickly and easily detect new photos if your device is Windows based.  Once these photos are detected they can then be tagged and imported to your Vista photo gallery.

The Media synchronization section will allow you to sync your music files along with allowing you to shuffle through them when listening on your Windows based phone.

The File browsing section allows you to quickly and easily acces the files that might be stored on your phone.  As an added feature you can even view files from your Windows based device directly on your computer with transferring them.  This will come in handy if you are doing a presentation and forgot to transfer a file to your laptop or don’t even want to bring your laptop.  You can easily just pull out your phone and be ready to give a presentation on the spot.

Syncing your phone is great idea and if you are using Windows XP or earlier then you want to make sure you get ActiveSync.  However for anythign after that you will need Windows Mobile Device center in order to make things work properly.

Current Version Plugin Google Update

Current Version Plugin Google Update

Like any piece of software that you use the maker is constantly trying to upgrade it based on customer response.

These current version updates have to do most commonly with internet browsers. Most commonly they are needed in Firefox. Firefox is a favorite among tech people because of the flexibility it offers and the lack of overt controls placed on you by the big names that often have market share on their mind and not internet experience.

Firefox offers the ability to download and install what they call plugins. Their functionality can range to the very useful, to fun, to very obscure. Really they are only limited by the imagination of the those coders out there that would like to create them. In a way they are not unlike apps that you would download onto your smart phone.

Like any piece of software that you use the maker is constantly trying to upgrade it based on customer response. This is partially to fix bugs and partially to keep functionality high so that you won’t want to run off to a competitor. Often these upgrades are something you’ll want to download to try out the new buttons and gizmos. Occasionally, depending on the plugins purpose you will need to download the new version in order to keep using it.

Google is among the makers out there are offer a Firefox plugin, and therefore are also constantly upgrading and improving it. So you’ll occasionally want to check to make sure you have the current version. To do this you can click one of the links to the right, or follow these steps:

  1. A. Select the Firefox option at the top
  2. B. Click on Add-ons
  3. C. Select Plugins
  4. D. Check to see if any of your plugins needs to be updated (if so follow the directions)

You should follow these steps at least monthly, and any time you seem to be having unexplained issues with Firefox (there could be a needed update that is causing your issues). Whether you check weekly or monthly you just need to make sure that you update plugins to latest version.

These plugins are also known sometimes as Aktuelle version plugin Google update. Popular searches include, “Google plugin update”, and “Google Update Plugin”. If you are looking for the download your best bet is to search for Google update plugin free download.

Current Version Plugin Google Earth Plugin

One of the most popular of the plugins that Google created and supports is the Google Earth Plugin. It is based on the original functionality that popularized Google Earth in the first place with all the satellite imagery. But think of it as a mix of the website and the smart phone app.

Current Version Plugin Google Talk Plugin

Another of the Google plugin offerings is Google Talk. This is the phone functionality that has expanded to video phone in recent years as well. You get get it in other web browsers including chrome and on your smart phone but the Firefox plugin is pretty slick as well.

Windows Media Player Download

Windows Media Player Download

Before you know it you’ll be enjoying all the new functionality that Windows Media Player has to offer.

Windows Media Player is a digital media player made by Microsoft which will handle audio, video, and images. Typically Windows Media Player is used on personal computers running Microsoft Windows operating system, however there are versions which can run on just about anything, including Mac. The most recent version of Windows Media Player is 12, which was released in 2009 in conjunction with Windows 7. If you are running operating systems other then Windows 7 (including any and all earlier versions of Windows) you’ll need to use Media Player 11 (or earlier version).

This post however is looking to focus more so on how to download the Windows Media Player. Even if you aren’t all that familiar with computers if you are running in a Windows environment (you see the Windows logo at some point when you turn on your computer) you can easily download and install the player. The easiest way to find a site to download from is to do a Google search for “Windows Media Player”.

Once you’ve found the site you will need to answer some questions about the version of Windows you are running (XP, 7, etc). Typically Windows Media Player was upgraded along with the latest version of the Windows operating system releases. So you need to make sure you are downloading and installing a more updated version of Windows Media Player then version of Windows you are going to be running it on. Not to worry, even if you answer the questions wrong you’ll get a message somewhere along in the installation process about the issue. Just go back to the site and pick an earlier version of Window Media Player and go through the process again.

Once downloaded just click on the file you downloaded and you’ll against be stepped through the process of installation. Before you know it you’ll be enjoying all the new functionality that Windows Media Player has to offer.

Update Windows Media Player

So as you know, as time went by Microsoft continued to update Windows Media Player. This was true in the past and it’ll be true in the future. So of course if you don’t have Media Player at all you should look for and download it. But even if you have Media Player all ready you should take a look to see if there is a newer Windows Media Player update that you could download and be enjoying.

Upgrade Windows Media Player

There are also small upgrade that Microsoft puts out for Media Player along the way that are additional code but not enough to be considered a new version. These small upgrades can be important even though they are small because they can sometimes be dealing with security issues which you want to be aware of.

Windows Media Player Free

If you are looking to download Windows Media Player before you do you should think about what version of Windows you are running. Is it very outdated? If so them maybe you would be considering a new version of the Windows operating system in your future. If so then it would probably be wise to do that now because more often then not Windows Media Player comes free with the Windows operating system installations.

Windows 7 sp1

Windows 7 sp1

Windows 7 service pack 1 is an update to windows 7 which addressed customer feedback issues. It is a collection of a number of updates and fixes which have been collected into one all encompassing update. It should make you computer more reliable (less crashes and issues) and safer.

Like all Windows versions in the past, and in fairness almost any piece of software every written, upon deployment there are a number of issue which were unanticipated while being created. Once they’ve been discovered Microsoft codes a solution. Depending on the severity of the issue this solution can either be distributed immediately (something like a dangerous security breach would make this happen) or collected and pushed out in a service pack.

The Microsoft Windows site specifically states that the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 includes the following: “previously released security, performance, and stability updates for Windows 7. SP1 also includes new improvements to features and services in Windows 7, such as improved reliability when connecting to HDMI audio devices, printing using the XPS Viewer, and restoring previous folders in Windows Explorer after restarting”.

Windows 7 service pack 1 was release on February 22, 2011 and like any new piece of software many were questioning whether it was work installing right away because there could be unknown bugs in the new code. In other words does the fix need to be fixed before you can use it to fix? Think of a new model year for a car. Many people will avoid that car for a couple years while the maker works out the bugs. Same thing with software, but because things change and update so quickly, instead of waiting a couple years, a few months or ever weeks will do the trick.

While there were a few issues along the way, it seems that most experts now agree that it should be installed. Any remaining risks of issue outweigh the good you are getting from the service pack.
